Federal Government rebates and grants

The Federal Government Solar Home and Communities scheme provides cash rebates of up to $8,000 for the installation of a 1Kw solar photovoltaic systems on homes and community use buildings. The rebate is available to joint household incomes of less than $100,000 a year and you must own the house.  You will not be eligible if the property is rented or is not your principle place of residence.

 

A Solar Credits scheme will replace the Solar Homes and Communities Plan in mid 2009.

Schools can apply for grants under the National Solar Schools Program from July 2008 to June 2015. National Solar Schools offers grants of up to $50 000 (GST exclusive) to install solar and other renewable power systems, solar hot water systems, rainwater tanks and a range of energy efficiency measures.
