Feed - In Tariffs
A Western Australian feed in tariff scheme commenced on 1 August 2010 and applies only to residential installations. It is a "net" scheme that subsidises the cost of installation by paying 40c per kilowatt hour for energy exported to the grid that is in excess of the household consumption as recorded by the meter at any point in time. This feed in tariff scheme applies in addition to the Renewable Energy Buyback Scheme (REBS). REBS pays for the net value of electricity generated at the rate of 7c per kilowatt hour. In short, residential customers can expect to be paid 47c per kilowatt for excess electricity generated by their solar system.
This means a much lower electricity bill at the end of the day. This effectively means that while on holidays your solar panels would be at home earning you money from the electrical company.
